Is it always possible to repair a lock?
Not always. If the main body is cracked or it's a cheap lock that's worn through, replacement is often the better value. We'll tell you honestly after we look at it - we don't repair things that should be replaced.
Will a repaired lock last as long as a new one?
If it's quality hardware that just needed cleaning or a new spring, yes - it can last years more. Cheap locks that have worn through their internal parts are a different story, and we'll tell you that upfront.
Can you fix old mortise locks in older homes?
Yes. Those big, heavy mortise locks in older Delaware homes are often excellent quality and well worth repairing. They were built to last - they just need maintenance after decades of use.
Why is my lock harder to turn in cold weather?
